"Il corredo della nonna"

This is the first appointment with "Il corredo della nonna", space dedicated to the tradition and the elegance of the past.
Now tatting is known thanks to wonderful jewels that tatting designers around the world realize with great skill and creativity.
But tatting is always a lace that, up to the recent past, was used to realize articles of clothing and the home.
It was especially in view of the marriage of young girls, for whom it was prepared the classic trousseau, that the women of the family (mothers and grandmothers) spent hours and hours of patient and loving work with needle and thread. So they made wonderful tablecloths, sheets, bedspreads and towels of precious linen enriched by embroideries and lace inserts worked by hand.
Even those were real gems that, unfortunately today, have given way to more practical objects certainly, but no doubt less precious.
However there are still people who want to keep alive, if not fully at least in part, the tradition of "hand-made".
I'm one of them, for this reason I dedicate part of my time to design and implement creations that can make more unique the environments of more modern homes.
In every appointment with "Il corredo della nonna" I want show an article in particular; today it is this pair of towels in white linen with tatting inserts.
The lace is applied to the tissue with overcast stitch (it's kind of a cross between couching and satin stitch), while the hem, finished with peahole hemstitch, gives the article greater transparency together lace inlays.

Primo appuntamento con "Il corredo della nonna", spazio dedicato alla tradizione e all'eleganza del passato.
Oggi il chiacchierino è conosciuto grazie ai meravigliosi gioielli che tatting designer di tutto il mondo realizzano con grande maestria e creatività.
Ma il chiacchierino è pur sempre un pizzo che, fino al più recente passato, era impiegato nella realizzazione di capi di abbigliamento e per la casa.
Era soprattutto in vista del matrimonio delle giovani fanciulle, per le quali veniva preparato il classico corredo, che le donne della famiglia (mamme e nonne) trascorrevano ore ed ore di paziente e amorevole lavoro con ago e filo. Nascevano così splendide tovaglie, lenzuola, copriletti e asciugamani di preziso lino arricchito da ricami e inserti di merletto lavorato rigorosamente a mano.
Anche quelli erano veri e propri gioielli che, purtroppo oggi, hanno ceduto il passo ad articoli sicuramente più pratici, ma indubbiamente meno preziosi.
Tuttavia c'è ancora qualcuno che vuole tenere viva, se non completamente almeno in parte, la tradizione del "fatto a mano".
Io sono una di loro, per questo motivo dedico parte del mio tempo a disegnare e realizzare creazioni che possano rendere più unici anche gli ambienti delle case più moderne.
In ogni appuntamento con "Il corredo della nonna" intendo dedicare visibilità ad un capo in particolare; oggi si tratta di questa coppia di asciugamani in candido lino con inserti a chiacchierino.
Il pizzo è applicato al tessuto con il punto cordoncino, mentre l'orlo, rifinito a gigliuccio, conferisce al capo maggiore trasparenza insieme agli intarsi del merletto.
