My tatting Christmas tree - Il mio albero di Natale a chiacchierino

If you didn't read my previous post about "Overlapping chains", I recommend you read it before starting this project because it will be useful to you if, like me, you work shuttle tatting.

Materials:
Cotton thread Babylo size 30 (colors: green, red and brown);
2 shuttles;
crochet hook;
scissors;
21 small beads.

Abbreviations:
Ring = R
Chain = C
double stitch = ds
picot = p
Reverse work = RW


Occorrente:
Cotone Babylo nr. 30 (colori verde, rosso e marrone);
2 navette;
uncinetto;
forbici;
21 perline.

Abbreviazioni:
Anello = AN
Arco = AR
nodino doppio = nd

Chiudere e voltare = Ch. e volt.


Motif A - Motivo A.

This motif is worked with two shuttles and green color thread.

Work a *R of 4ds - 3p separated by 4ds - 4ds. Close and RW.

C of 9ds. RW.

Position shuttle 2 in order to make the overlap of chains (step 1 of the previous post).

R of 3ds - join to the last p of the previous ring (steps 3 - 4 - 5 - 6) - 3ds - 1p - 5ds - 1p - 1ds. Close.

R of 1ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 10ds - 1p - 10ds - 1p - 1ds. Close.

R of 1ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 5ds - 1p - 3ds - 1p - 3ds. Close.

Rotate the group of 3 rings (step 9).

C of 9ds (step 11).*

Repeat from *to* one more time, joining the first R to the last worked ring by means of the first p.

To complete the motif, work a R of 4ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 4ds - 2p separated by 4ds - 4ds. Close and RW.

C of 9ds. RW.

Position shuttle 2 in order to make the overlap of chains (step 1).

R of 3ds - join to the last p of the previous ring as usual - 3ds - 1p - 5ds - 1p - 1ds. Close.

R of 1ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 10ds - 1p - 10ds - 1p - 1ds. Close.

R of 1ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 5ds - 1p - 3ds - join to the p of the first worked ring - 3ds. Close and cut the thread leaving an end of about 15 cm. Pass this end on the back of the work through the chain space and tie it to the shuttle again. Work the last C of 9ds. Cut and tie.

Work 6 motifs A.

Questo motivo si lavora con due navette e filo di colore verde.

Lavorare un *AN di 4nd - 3p divisi da 4nd - 4nd. Ch. e volt.

AR di 9nd. Volt.

Posisionare la navetta 2 per poter sovrapporre gli archi (step 1 del precedente post).

AN di 3nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente (steps 3 - 4 - 5 - 6) - 3nd - 1p - 5nd - 1p - 1nd. Ch.

AN di 1nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 10nd - 1p - 10nd - 1p - 1nd. Ch.

AN di 1nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 5nd - 1p - 3nd - 1p - 3nd. Ch.

Ruotare il gruppo di 3 anelli (step 9).

AR di 9nd (step 11).*

Ripetere da *a* un'altra volta, unendo il primo AN all'ultimo anello lavorato per mezzo del primo p.

Per completare il motivo, lavorare un AN di 4nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 4nd - 2p divisi da 4nd - 4nd. Ch. e volt.

AR di 9nd. Volt.

Posizionare la navetta 2 per poter sovrapporre gli archi (step 1).

AN di 3nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente normalmente - 3nd - 1p - 5nd - 1p - 1nd. Ch.

AN di 1nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 10nd - 1p - 10nd - 1p - 1nd. Ch.

AN di 1nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 5nd - 1p - 3nd - att. al p del primo anello lavorato - 3nd. Ch. e tagliare il filo lasciando un'estremità di circa 15 cm. Passare questa estremità sul retro del lavoro attraverso lo spazio dell'arco e legarlo di nuovo alla navetta. Lavorare l'ultimo C di 9nd. Tagliare e annodare i fili.

Lavorare 6 motivi A.

Motif B - Motivo B.

Motif B is worked with a single shuttle and red color thread.

Load 3 small beads and work each ring at the same way.

Slide a bead and then make the loop as usual; hold the bead close to the little finger and work the first R of 2ds - 1p - 6ds - 1p - 6ds - 1p - 2ds. Close.

The other two rings have the same number of double stitches and they are joined together by means of the lateral picots, as shown in the diagram.

To connect the B motifs with the motifs A by means of the central picots, look at the photo.

Il motivo B è lavorato con una navetta e filo di colore rosso.

Caricate 3 perline e lavorate ciascun anello allo stesso modo.

Fate scorrere una perlina e poi avvolgete il filo intorno alle dita normalmente; tenete la perlina vicino al mignolo e lavorate il primo AN di 2nd - 1p - 6nd - 1p - 6nd - 1p - 2nd. Ch.

Gli altri due anelli hanno lo stesso numero di nodini doppi e sono uniti tra di loro tramite i picot laterali, come mostrato nello schema.

Per collegare i motivi B con i motivi A per mezzo dei picot centrali, guardate la foto.

Motif C - Motivo C.

Motif C represents the trunk of the tree. It is worked with two shuttles and brown color thread.

Wind a shuttle, pass the thread through the join p beetwen motif B and motif A, then wind the second shuttle so to have continuous thread.

Work a C of 12ds. RW.

R of 6ds - join to the p of motif A - 6ds - 2p separated by 6ds - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 4ds - 1p - 4ds. RW.

*R of 6ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 6ds - 2p separated by 6ds - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 4ds - 1p - 4ds. RW.*

Repeat from *to* 2 more times.

R of 6ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 6ds - 2p separated by 6ds - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 6ds - 1p - 6ds. RW. 

R of 6ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 6ds - 1p - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 12ds. RW.

R of 6ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 6ds - 1p - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 6ds - 1p - 6ds. RW. 

**R of 6ds - join to the last p of the previous R - 6ds - join to the p of the other R - 6ds - 1p - 6ds. Close and RW.

C of 4ds - 1p - 4ds. RW.**

Repeat from **to** 4 more times, joining the last R to motif A and working the last C of 12ds. Cut threads and tie them to the join p beetwen motif A and motif B.

Il motivo C rappresenta il tronco dell'albero. Si lavora con due navette e filo di colore marrone.

Avvolgere una navetta, passare il filo attraverso il p d'unione tra il motivo B e il motivo A, quindi avvolgere la seconda navetta in modo da avere un filo continuo.

Lavorate un AR di 12nd. Volt.

AN di 6nd - att. al p del motivo A - 6nd - 2p divisi da 6nd - 6nd. Ch. e volt.

AR di 4nd - 1p - 4nd. Volt.

*AN di 6nd - att. all'ultimo p dell'AN precedente - 6nd - 2p divisi da 6nd - 6nd. Ch. e volt.
